On January 8, Jiangnan Shipyard signed and delivered the 99,000 m³ ultra-large ethane carrier “PACIFIC INEOS BATTLEGROUND”, built for Agricultural Bank of China Financial Leasing Co., Ltd. and Pacific Gas.

The 99,000 cubic meter VLEC was independently developed and built by Jiangnan Shipyard, utilizing the shipyard’s proprietary BrillianceE® Type B cargo containment system. It is the world’s largest VLEC in terms of cargo capacity, and its overall technical indicators have been certified as being at the international leading level. The vessel is 230 meters long and is suitable for transporting various liquefied industrial and energy gases such as ethane, ethylene, and LPG. It is the optimal vessel type “tailor-made” for long-distance ethane transportation from the United States, and also has universal compatibility with major LPG terminals worldwide.
This vessel type offers significant economic benefits through its low oil (gas) consumption, low boil-off rate (BOR) achieved by the independently developed BrillianceE® cargo containment system in Type B cargo holds, absence of liquid-level loading restrictions and low maintenance costs.
As the first vessel of Pacific Gas Shipping Company’s 99,000 m³ VLEC 2.0 series, Jiangnan Shipyard implemented multiple innovative measures during the building process, setting new records for testing cycles, and demonstrating superior sea trial performance, thus creating multiple new records.
