Dual Shipyards Under Fujian Shipbuilding Reach Milestones in Series of 12,000 DWT Self-Propelled Deck Vessels

Recently, two shipyards under Fujian Shipbuilding Industry Group Corporation (Fujian Shipbuilding) have both reached new milestones in the construction of self-propelled deck cargo vessels.

On December 25, Fujian Shipbuilding’s Fujian Funing Shipbuilding Heavy Industry commenced construction of a 12,000 DWT self-propelled deck cargo vessel. On the 26th, Southeast Shipyard successfully launched another 12,000 DWT self-propelled deck cargo vessel.

The series of vessels is consists of 15 vessels, with Funing Shipbuilding Heavy Industry responsible for constructing 11 vessels and the Southeast Shipyard Guanhai Base responsible for constructing 4 vessels.

The vessel has an overall length of 119.9 meters, a beam of 30 meters, a design draft of 4.96 meters and a maximum draft of 4.96 meters. The vessel has a crew of 16, a service speed of 10.3 knots, and a maximum deadweight of approximately 12,200 tons at full load. It is rated for unrestricted navigation. Primarily designed for transporting bauxite, iron ore lumps, iron ore fines, coal, sand, and general cargo, the vessel is classified by the China Classification Society.
