On November 21, HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (HD KSOE), the intermediate holding company for HD Hyundai Group’s shipbuilding business, announced that it had recently signed a contract with a European shipowner for the construction of four Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs). The total order value amounts to 762.7 billion won (approximately $520 million), with each vessel costing about $130 million.

The new vessels will be constructed by HD Hyundai Samho and are scheduled for delivery in phases by mid-August 2029.
Including the latest order, HD KSOE has secured orders for a total of 108 new vessels this year, valued at approximately $14.76 billion, achieving 81.8% of its annual order target of $18.05 billion.
By vessel type, the orders include 7 LNG carriers, 6 LNG bunkering vessels, 9 LPG/ammonia carriers, 2 ethane carriers, 61 container ships, 40 oil tankers, and 3 chemical tankers.
Since November 10, HD KSOE has secured orders for 14+2 new vessels, including overseas bases. All its shipyards have received new orders: HD Hyundai Heavy Industries: 2 container ships, 2 oil tankers; HD Hyundai Samho: 4 VLCCs, 2 LNG carriers; HD Hyundai Mipo: 2 chemical tankers; HD Hyundai Vietnam Shipbuilding: 2+2 oil tankers.
