On October 20, CSSC Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (DSIC) kicked off construction of a 154,000 DWT Suezmax DP2 dynamic positioning shuttle tanker for China Merchants Energy Shipping (CMES), marking the project’s official entry into the actual construction phase.

DSIC and CMES have a long-standing partnership. The two companies have collaborated extensively to deliver a wide range of high-performance offshore transport vessels, accumulating extensive experience in the construction of oil tankers and gradually expanding into the field of high-tech, high-value-added specialty vessels.
The shuttle tanker whose construction has now commenced was independently developed by DSIC and is a high-value-added vessel type specifically designed for transporting oil from offshore oilfields to land. The vessel has an overall length of approximately 277 meters and a beam of 48 meters, and is capable of completing bow-to-bow connection and loading operations with an FPSO in harsh offshore swell conditions.
