On September 26, New Yangzi Shipbuilding delivered the 50,000 DWT MR tanker “ELANDRA CEDAR” built for Vitol International Shipping.
This type of tanker is a mature, market-proven, and core vessel type of Yangzijiang Shipbuilding. Its design has undergone multiple rounds of optimization, and it boasts a track record of successful batch deliveries of similar vessels.
Construction of the vessel commenced in late October 2024, followed by its keel laying for assembly in late April 2025, and its launching in late June. In early September, it successfully completed the sea trial mission, with all test results meeting the design requirements. Through the efficient collaboration between the Yangzijiang Shipbuilding team and relevant parties including the shipowner’s on-site supervision group and ABS on-site surveyors, the vessel was ultimately completed and delivered over one month ahead of the contractual delivery schedule.
On September 25, Yangzijiang Shipbuilding and the shipowner jointly held a naming ceremony for the new vessel. On the same day, witnessed by representatives from all parties, Mr. Rishab Bahl, General Manager of Vitol International Shipping, and Mr. Du Chengzhong, Deputy General Manager of Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group and General Manager of New Yangzi Shipbuilding, signed the delivery documents for the “ELANDRA CEDAR.”
This vessel is one of the first newbuild tankers Vitol has ordered in China. This collaboration represents Vitol’s full recognition of Yangzijiang Shipbuilding’s capabilities in technical expertise, construction quality, and delivery performance. Both parties look forward to leveraging this opportunity to deepen cooperation and jointly explore new business models and market opportunities arising from green shipping and intelligent operations.
