Jiangsu Haixin Shipping Heavy Industry successfully held a steel cutting ceremony for the construction project of a 2,000 m³-class self-propelled trailing suction hopper dredger on September 5.
It is reported that this trailing suction hopper dredger is invested by CCCC Shanghai Dredging, designed by the Marine Design and Research Institute of China (MARIC), and constructed by Jiangsu Haixin Shipping Heavy Industry. The total construction period is 15 months.
This dredger adopts a dual-engine, dual-propeller, and one-drag-two composite drive configuration, along with a dual-trailing-suction and single-pump system. It is suitable for dredging and maintenance projects in coastal port waterways, inland waterways, and other similar engineering scenarios worldwide. The dredger has a crew capacity of 23 people and a self-propelled speed of 11.5 knots. It is mainly used for excavating medium-fine sand (non-cohesive), while also being capable of excavating fine sand, silt, clay, and coarse sand.
It boasts high efficiency and strong wind and wave resistance, and will be widely applicable in future operations such as port and waterway dredging, deep-sea sand extraction, land reclamation, and deep-sea mining. Once operational, it will effectively enhance the serialization and professionalization of China’s dredging fleet, helping China advance from a major dredging nation to a leading dredging power.
