HD KSOE Secures $110M Container Ship Order, Nears 62% of Annual Target

On July 24, HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (HD KSOE), the intermediate holding company for HD Hyundai Group’s shipbuilding business, announced that it had signed a contract with an Oceania shipping company to build two container ships. The total value of the order is 156.4 billion won (approximately US$110 million), with each ship costing approximately US$55 million.

The new ships will be built by HD Hyundai Mipo and are expected to be delivered in the second half of 2027.

Including the latest order, HD KSOE has received orders for 82 new ships worth US$11.22 billion this year, achieving about 62.2% of its annual order target of US$18.05 billion.

By ship type, it includes 5 liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers, 6 LNG bunkering vessels, 8 liquefied petroleum gas (LPG)/ammonia carriers, 2 ethane carriers, 50 container ships, and 11 oil tankers.
