CSSC-MES Diesel Achieves Landmark 1000-Engine Production with Latest 6G70ME-C10.5-HPSCR Delivery

On July 10, 2025, CSSC-MES Diesel (CMD), a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), successfully delivered the 6G70ME-C10.5-HPSCR #22 main engine. This is the 1,000th engine produced and built by CMD, with a cumulative horsepower output exceeding 36 million horsepower.

The delivery of the 1,000th main engine is a milestone in CMD’s continued efforts in the field of marine power.

Looking back on the journey of production through thick and thin, CMD remains steadfast in its original mission:

  • In September 2007, CMD successfully delivered the first diesel engine 7K90MC-C #1, taking the first step in the manufacture of high-power marine diesel engines.
  • In July 2008, CMD successfully delivered its first 8K98MC diesel engine with the largest cylinder bore, filling the domestic gap in the largest cylinder bore diesel engine market.
  • In April 2011, CMD successfully delivered the first ME electronically controlled diesel engine 8K80ME-C, taking the first step in the manufacture of intelligent marine diesel engines.
  • In October of the same year, CMD successfully manufactured the Wartsila 7RT-flex82T main engine, achieving dual patent manufacturing.
  • In October 2013, CMD successfully completed the type approval of the first 6G70ME-C9.2 main engine, marking the company’s “high-efficiency, low-consumption, environmentally friendly” new diesel engine development and manufacturing capabilities have reached a new level.
  • In September 2017, CMD successfully delivered the first diesel engine with the largest number of cylinders, 12S90ME-C10.5, marking another step forward in the company’s high-power diesel engine development and manufacturing capabilities.
  • In January 2019, CMD successfully delivered the world’s largest power low-pressure dual-fuel engine 12X92DF, achieving a major breakthrough in dual-fuel technology and winning the 7th Industrial Award.
  • In August 2020, CMD successfully delivered the world’s first LPG dual-fuel engine 6G60ME-C-LGIP-HPSCR, which is one of the important milestones in the development of “green power” in the domestic shipping industry.
  • In June 2021, CMD successfully delivered the first GI high-pressure dual-fuel engine 6G70ME-C10.5-GI-HPSCR, becoming the first domestic OEM with high- and low-pressure natural gas and LPG three-fuel engine manufacturing experience.
  • In June 2022, CMD successfully delivered the first dual-fuel engine 7X62DF-2.1 with intelligent control by exhaust recycling (iCER) system, further enriching the company’s dual-fuel engine manufacturing spectrum.
  • In June 2023, CMD successfully delivered the first dual-fuel engine 5X72DF-2.1 equipped with a fuel version of the iCER system, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent batch production and supporting of LNG ship main engines.
  • In January 2025, CMD successfully delivered the world’s first methanol dual-fuel engine 10X92DF-M-1.0-LPSCR, marking another milestone breakthrough achieved for China in the field of high-end marine equipment.
  • In May 2025, CMD successfully delivered the largest cylinder diameter methanol dual-fuel engine 12G95ME-C10.5-LGIM-EGRTC, further consolidating the company’s advantages in the manufacturing of large cylinder engine main engines and dual-fuel main engines.
