Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Achieves Milestones with Successful Sea Trials for Two Key Vessels

Recently, Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS) successfully completed sea trials for Greece’s Performance 114,000 DWT Aframax product tanker (Hull No.H1515) and first 9,000 CEU pure car and track carrier (PCTC, Hull No. H1603) of Italy’s GRIMALDI.

As the first vessel in the series of Aframax product tankers built for Greece’s Performance Shipping, H1515 has seen all construction tasks completed by SWS in a high-quality and efficient manner as scheduled, fully achieving the “completed state” sea trial target.

During the several-day sea trial, SWS strictly implemented the sea trial program and successfully completed the strength tests of ballast tanks and cargo oil tanks, as well as the performance tests of key equipment such as the main engine, boiler, steering gear, generator, windlass, desulfurization system, and SCR system. It has been verified that all equipment performance indicators meet the design specification requirements, winning high praise and full recognition from the shipowner and classification society.

As the first 9,000 CEU PCTC built by SWS, the H1603 was fully discussed and communicated with relevant departments and shipowners before the sea trial, technical standards, resource requirements, etc., and reached a consensus.

During the sea trial, SWS established a sea trial safety team, a test team, a technical support team, and a logistics support team, strictly followed the sea trial management procedures, and clarified the positions and responsibilities of each team member.

At the same time, SWS adjusted the test plan in a timely manner according to the actual situation, arranged various test tasks reasonably and efficiently, and finally completed the sea trial two days ahead of schedule. The test results won unanimous recognition from the shipowner and classification society, and achieved complete success.
