On June 19, Mawei Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of Fujian Shipbuilding Industry Group Corporation (Fujian Shipbuilding), held a naming ceremony for two 18,500DWT oil and chemical tankers (MW516-1/2).
The vessel has a total length of 149.8 meters, a beam of 22.8 meters and a draft of 12.7 meters. It is equipped with methanol dual-fuel function and can transport crude oil, petroleum products with a density of less than 1.54 tons per cubic meter, chemicals (Class II and Class III), liquid chemicals, and IMO Class II and III petroleum products listed in MARPOL Annex I and IBC regulations.
The main engine and generator set of the vessel are equipped with nitrogen oxide emission control devices (SCR), which comply with IMO Tier III requirements and ICE CLASS 1C ice class requirements. The propulsion system adopts a low-speed two-stroke diesel engine, with an adjustable pitch propeller and a front energy-saving guide duct device, as well as a flap rudder device with a rudder ball. It is also equipped with a variable frequency shaft generator set, which can realize the function of operating without a generator set during navigation, while reducing the energy consumption of the vessel and improving maneuverability.
The naming ceremony marks the official start of the close cooperation between Everbright Financial Leasing, Pioneer Logistics and Fujian Shipbuilding. In recent years, Everbright Financial Leasing has vigorously developed “green finance” and “technological finance” to help China’s shipbuilding industry and the global shipping industry deepen cooperation through financial leasing. PPioneer Logistics is well-known and strong in the shipping field. Since cooperating with Fujian Shipbuilding in August 2023, it has forged a deep friendship in the field of shipbuilding.
It is reported that after the two 18,500DWT oil and chemical tankers are put into operation, they will become high-quality shipping assets of Everbright Financial Leasing with their superior performance and reliable quality, and become an important force in the fleet of Pioneer Logistics, helping both parties’ shipping business to achieve greater success.
