Recently, Nantong Rainbow Intelligent Equipment Co., Ltd. (RIEC)—a subsidiary of Jiangsu Rainbow Heavy Industries—officially broke ground on the 1,800-ton gantry crane project, marking this overseas project into the substantive production phase. The gantry crane was ordered by the South Korean shipbuilding giant Hanwha Ocean.

The 1800T gantry crane under construction boasts excellent lifting capacity and a wide operating range. It can meet the demanding requirements of complex working conditions featuring high loads and large spans, such as hoisting large hull sections and assembly of offshore modules. It will effectively help customers improve construction efficiency and enhance the flexibility and operational reliability of onsite operations.
The smooth commencement of the project fully demonstrates RIEC’s mature manufacturing and delivery capabilities in the field of large high-end lifting equipment. In the next stage, adhering to the production principles of rigor, pragmatism, efficiency and continuous improvement, the Company will exercise strict quality control over products, advance all project processes in an orderly manner, fully guarantee the scheduled delivery and tangible value to customers.
Hanwha Ocean is one of South Korea’s three major shipbuilding giants. This year, the company has secured orders for 38 new vessels valued at approximately $7.07 billion. By vessel type, the orders comprise 17 VLCCs, 6 LNG carriers, 6 container ships, 3 VLACs, 3 VLGCs, 1 wind turbine installation vessel, 1 special-purpose vessel, and 1 onshore plant.
