UK’s James Fisher orders up to four tankers in China

Shipbuilding sources said the London-listed shipowner struck a deal with China Merchants Jinling Shipyard in Yangzhou (CMJL Yangzhou) for two firm LNG dual-fuel 6,000-dwt tanker newbuildings. The contract includes options for two additional vessels.

The new vessels are scheduled for delivery in 2025 and will be built to International Maritime Organization standards for Category 2 chemical handling. The order is understood to be part of the company’s fleet renewal programme.

Last month, Swedish shipowner Furetank announced an additional order for two product tankers from China Merchants Jinling Shipyard in Yangzhou scheduled for delivery in the second and third quarters of 2026, with an undisclosed order value.
