TechnipFMC Wins Major Petrobras Contract to Supply Flexible Pipe Systems for Brazilian Pre-Salt Projects

On October 6, offshore engineering giant TechnipFMC announced that it had secured a “major” offshore contract from Petrobras through a competitive tender process; the company will supply flexible pipe systems for multiple pre-salt field development projects offshore Brazil.

TechnipFMC did not disclose the financial details of the contract; however, in accordance with company practice, contracts defined as “significant”—with values ranging from $75 million to $250 million—are included in the company’s third-quarter 2026 order intake.

Under the contract, the project covers the design, engineering, and manufacturing of flexible oil pipelines. The project will leverage TechnipFMC’s engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain capabilities in Brazil to support the local industrial sector’s capacity.

TechnipFMC did not disclose the specific names of the oil fields, but Petrobras is developing sub-salt oil and gas resources in the Santos and Campos basins, where the subsea infrastructure must withstand high pressure, high temperatures, and highly corrosive environments over the long term.

In addition, to address the issue of stress corrosion cracking that arises during offshore oil and gas development, TechnipFMC has also partnered with Petrobras to develop hybrid flexible pipeline technology.
