Dalian Liaonan Shipyard recently officially delivered a 4,000-ton class diesel-electric platform supply vessel (PSV) to CNPC Offshore Engineering Marine (Tianjin) Co., Ltd.. The vessel has been named “Zhong You Hai 781.”
The “Zhong You Hai 781” features electric propulsion and is certified for unrestricted navigation; it primarily provides support services for offshore drilling platforms, meeting the operational requirements of oil and gas exploration and development in the South China Sea.
Compared to platform supply vessels of the same class, this vessel boasts a higher deadweight capacity and a larger deck cargo area. It is capable of transporting various liquid cargoes—such as methanol, ethylene glycol, drilling mud, and brine—and includes reserved space for energy storage batteries to facilitate a future upgrade to a hybrid power system.
Upon its completion and entry into service, the vessel will further enhance the company’s operational capabilities in areas such as marine transportation, energy exploration, production support, and emergency response.
