On August 13, HEA Energy announced the acquisition of the jack-up vessels Thor and Wind Lift 1 from the Danish contractor Semco Maritime for an undisclosed sum. This acquisition marks the formal establishment of a long-term partnership between the two parties.
Concurrently, a long-term charter agreement was signed; the vessels will continue to be operated by Semco Maritime to provide Major Component Exchange (MCE) and Major Component Overhaul (MCO) services within the European offshore wind market.

This partnership will leverage Semco Maritime’s service base in Emden, Germany—a facility equipped with a 450-tonne gantry crane and direct access to the North Sea, serving as a strategic hub for the refurbishment, maintenance, and logistics of large wind turbine components.
Both parties anticipate steady business growth, driven by the expanding project pipelines of offshore wind developers such as Ørsted, RWE, and Equinor.
Representatives from HEA Energy stated that combining Semco Maritime’s technical expertise, customer relationships, and strategic infrastructure in Emden with HEA Energy’s maritime platforms will lay a solid foundation for future growth and further expand HEA Energy’s footprint in the European offshore wind sector.
