COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Dalian) Delivers Seventh 80,000 DWT Multi-Purpose Grain Carrier “Guoxin Hai”

On August 14, COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Dalian) officially named and delivered the “Guoxin Hai,” the seventh 80,000 DWT multi-purpose grain carrier built for COSCO Shipping Development, marking the delivery of two vessels of the same class within 15 days.

This series of vessels represents a globally pioneering multi-purpose ship design—independently developed and designed in my country—specifically adapted for grain transport. Measuring 229.95 meters in length, 32.26 meters in beam, and 21 meters in depth, the ships feature ample cargo hold capacity suitable for transporting various grains (such as soybeans, corn, and wheat) and dry bulk cargoes, making them ideal for global deep-sea operations.

The vessels incorporate optimized hull structures and propulsion systems alongside green, low-carbon construction techniques, delivering significant reductions in energy consumption and carbon emissions in alignment with international green shipping standards and China’s “dual carbon” strategic goals. Furthermore, they are equipped with intelligent systems—including smart navigation, real-time cargo monitoring, and comprehensive safety management—which substantially enhance deep-sea navigational safety and operational cost-efficiency.

It is reported that the six sister vesselss from this series delivered previously have all entered service and are operating with stable performance. Breaking the limitations of carrying only a single type of cargo, this vessels enable flexible two-way intermodal operations—transporting containers on the outbound leg and dry bulk cargo on the return leg—thereby significantly enhancing individual vessel operational efficiency and route profitability.
