On July 28, Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (DSIC)—a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC)—kicked off construction on a 175,000 cbm LNG carrier for COSCO SHIPPING LNG Investment (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (CSLNG) and Sinopec Kantons Holdings Limited (“Kantons Holdings”).
Independently developed by DSIC, the vessel has an overall length of 299.7 meters, a beam of 46 meters, a depth of 26.2 meters, and a design draft of 11.5 meters. It features a design service speed of 19.5 knots and holds class notations from both DNV and CCS. The cargo tanks utilize the GTT Mark III Flex membrane containment system and are equipped with a cryogenic reliquefaction unit, significantly enhancing the vessel’s economic efficiency.
The vessel is designed to meet the highest “one-man bridge” class notation—NAUT(OC)—ensuring its seaworthiness across global trading routes. In terms of environmental performance, it is equipped with dual-fuel main and auxiliary engines as well as exhaust gas economizers; it supports mixed-fuel combustion modes, thereby minimizing the additional energy consumption typically associated with forced boil-off from the LNG tanks during startup.
