On July 10, China State Shipbuilding Corporation’s Beihai Shipbuilding, together with China Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd. (CSTC), successfully delivered the “Mount Asahi” to Singapore-based East Pacific Shipping (EPS). The vessel is the first 210,000 DWT LNG dual-fuel bulk carrier built for EPS, and was delivered nearly four months ahead of the contractual schedule.

Reportedly, this vessel is a new-generation eco-friendly ship with a total length of 299.99 meters and a beam of 50 meters. It is equipped with an LNG dual-fuel main engine and Type C LNG tanks, which can reduce carbon emissions by approximately 20% when operating in gas mode and achieve near-zero sulfur oxide emissions, thereby meeting EEDI Phase III requirements.
The vessel is equipped with an autopilot featuring TCS (Trajectory Control System) functionality, which integrates trajectory planning and automatic tracking to effectively shorten voyage distances and reduce energy consumption. The project incorporates an open-loop desulfurization tower, enabling the use of high-sulfur fuel oil with a concentration of up to 3.5%, thereby providing the shipowner with flexible options for fuel with varying sulfur content.

During the project’s construction, Beihai Shipbuilding fully leveraged its experience from previous LNG dual-fuel bulk carriers, completing the commissioning and inspection of the entire gas system in just 3.5 days—setting a new record for commissioning efficiency among dual-fuel bulk carriers of this type.
As of the end of the first half of the year, Beihai Shipbuilding had nearly 100 vessels on order, totaling 22 million deadweight tons, and maintained its position as the world’s leading shipbuilder in terms of orders for 210,000 DWT bulk carriers.
