On August 24, 2026, Qingdao McDermott Wuchuan (QMW), together with its consortium partner McDermott, has been awarded a mega engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) contract by ADNOC for Package 4 of the Umm Shaif Integrated Gas Cap and Surface Pressure Boosting (SPB) Project. The project is a critical component of the Umm Shaif Long-Term Development Plan (LTDP), designed to maximize gas recovery from the field and increase gas production.

Under the contract, the McDermott–QMW consortium will deliver the complete EPCI scope for a new surface pressure boosting facility, including the fabrication and installation of a jacket and topside, as well as associated brownfield modifications. Upon completion, the topside will rank among the heaviest offshore topsides ever installed in the Middle East.
“This significant award marks QMW’s strategic entry into the United Arab Emirates market,” said Li Qiuzhe, General Manager of QMW. “We are delighted to partner with McDermott once again to win and execute strategic projects in the Middle East through our consortium model, which has consistently demonstrated its competitiveness and its ability to deliver certainty to our customers.”
Engineering and project management activities will be led from the consortium’s project offices in the United Arab Emirates, with fabrication to be carried out in Qingdao, China.
