Ningbo Marine Invests $184M to Build Five Bulk Carriers

On August 24, Ningbo Marine Company Limited (hereinafter referred to as “Ningbo Marine”) issued an “Announcement Regarding the Company and Its Wholly-Owned Subsidiary’s Investment in the Construction of New Bulk Carriers”. The announcement stated that Ningbo Marine plans to invest in a project to build four new 65,000 DWT bulk carriers, with a total investment not exceeding 980 million yuan (approximately $146 million). Its wholly-owned subsidiary, Ningbo Marine (Singapore) Pte Ltd, plans to invest in the construction of one new 82,000 DWT bulk carrier, with a total investment not exceeding $36.5 million. The total investment for both projects will not exceed approximately 1.2355 billion yuan (equivalent to $184 million).

According to the announcement, Ningbo Marine convened the 13th meeting of its 10th Board of Directors on August 21, 2026. The meeting reviewed and approved the “Proposal Regarding the Company’s Investment in the Construction of Four New 65,000 DWT Bulk Carriers” and the “Proposal Regarding the Investment by the Company’s Wholly-Owned Subsidiary, Ningbo Marine (Singapore) Pte Ltd, in the Construction of One New 82,000 DWT Bulk Carrier.”

Ningbo Marine stated that the investment in constructing four 65,000 DWT and one 82,000 DWT bulk carriers will help optimize its fleet structure, expand fleet size, and enhance competitiveness; furthermore, the project aligns with energy conservation and emission reduction goals while driving the company’s transformation and upgrading.
