On May 22, CSSC Chengxi Shipyard Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), named and delivered the 82,000 DWT bulk carrier No. 55, built for AGRICORE GROUP. The vessel was named “ASL MERCURY,” marking the 20th newbuild delivered by the shipbuilder this year.

The “ASL MERCURY” is the first vessel in a series of bulk carriers built by CSSC Chengxi Shipyard for AGRICORE GROUP. It is an eco-friendly ship design independently developed by CSSC Chengxi Shipyard, offering multiple advantages such as outstanding performance, large cargo capacity, and strong adaptability.
Since the vessel’s groudbreaking, CSSC Chengxi Shipyard has continuously optimized its production processes to enhance efficiency and quality. During sea trials, all verification tests were successfully completed on the first attempt, and the vessel was ultimately delivered 102 days ahead of the contractual schedule. It is worth noting that, following its delivery, the vessel will operate on major global grain shipping routes, contributing to the stability of the international food supply chain.
CSSC Chengxi Shipyard stated that it will continue to deepen its lean management practices and leverage its strengths in efficiency and quality to build more high-quality vessels that meet market and customer needs through superior design, more efficient construction, and more attentive service.
