Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding Starts Construction of New 14,000 TEU Container Ship

On May 22, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding held a groundbreaking ceremony at its western plant for a 14,000 TEU container ship being built for Germany’s Peter Dohle Shipping. The ceremony was attended by Ingo Schwarzlose, head of the on-site supervision team; Zhou Yonghua, project manager at Lloyd’s Register; and representatives from relevant departments of the company.

Since the commencement of construction on the first and second vessels in this series, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding has managed the project safely, efficiently, and systematically. The company has mastered the key construction points and technical challenges of this ship type, fully streamlined standardized construction processes, and laid a solid foundation for the launch of the third vessel in the series.

Leveraging data feedback from the entire construction process of the first two vessels, Hudong-Zhonghua has mastered the core construction techniques for this series of vessels. By resolving construction bottlenecks and streamlining workflow transitions, the company has established unified and standardized operational standards and construction procedures. This has significantly shortened the preparation cycle, enabling accelerated progress from the start of construction while simultaneously improving both quality and efficiency.

Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding stated that by leveraging lean tools to establish a mature and efficient quality management system, it will further improve the quality of work in key construction phases, including hull precision, welding quality, and equipment installation.
