Meyer Turku, the Finnish shipyard owned by Germany’s Meyer Group, has announced that a new headquarters for Meyer Turku will be built in the immediate vicinity of the shipyard, in the Blue Industry Park area. The project, valued at approximately EUR 40 million, forms part of the company’s extensive investment program. Construction is scheduled to begin in summer 2026, with the new premises to be completed in early 2028. The project will be designed and constructed by SRV, with real estate investment company Balder acting as investor.

The project comprises two office towers with a combined gross floor area of approximately 12,000 square meters. Meyer Turku will be the main tenant in both towers, occupying modern and energy-efficient office space. The new premises have been designed with a lifecycle-smart approach and will support the long-term development of the company’s operations and strategic objectives.
Blue Industry Park is an emerging hub for the European maritime cluster and manufacturing industry, offering excellent logistics connections by road, rail, sea and air.
Investment program builds the future of the shipyard
The new headquarters is part of an approximately EUR 200 million investment program launched at Meyer Turku. The program aims to strengthen the shipyard’s competitiveness and to create a sustainable foundation for the years ahead. Spanning several years, the program supports the company’s long-term strategy and enhances the shipyard’s operational capability, productivity, safety and delivery reliability.
The investment program focuses on improving safety, streamlining production processes, reducing disruptions and enhancing material flows. It also includes significant replacement and modernization investments to renew ageing structures, equipment and infrastructure, while improving usability and the overall working environment at the shipyard.
Key investment areas include the development of the shipyard area and yard spaces, lifting logistics, block and outfitting production capabilities, production-supporting facilities, and services that facilitate the day-to-day work of shipbuilders.
“This office building is a long-term strategic investment for us and a concrete way to modernize and further develop Meyer Turku. The project supports our growth and competitiveness, enhances and streamlines our operations, and improves safety by reducing pedestrian traffic within the shipyard area. The new headquarters will provide a workplace for nearly 700 of our employees, while freeing up additional space for core production activities. Safeguarding the shipyard’s operating conditions and growth opportunities will also have a significant positive impact on the entire Turku region,” says Casimir Lindholm, CEO of Meyer Turku.
Founded in 1737, Meyer Turku has grown to become one of the world’s largest and most advanced shipyards for large cruise ships and passenger vessels. Over the course of its 289-year history, the shipyard has built more than 1,300 vessels for shipowners around the globe.
In related news, a few days ago, Meyer Turku signed an order with Royal Caribbean Group for two cruise ships, which will be the sixth and seventh vessels in the Icon-class luxury cruise ship series, scheduled for delivery in 2029 and 2030, respectively.
This cruise ship is approximately 365 meters long and 50 meters wide, with a gross tonnage of 250,000. It features 20 decks and is equipped with 2,805 cabins. It can accommodate 5,610 passengers based on double occupancy, and up to 7,600 passengers when all cabins are fully occupied. It also accommodates a crew of 2,350. It is worth noting that the Icon-class cruise ship is the largest luxury cruise ship ever built by Meyer Turku, with a construction cost of up to EUR 2 billion per vessel.
