Recently, CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding, jointly with China Shipbuilding Trading Co. Ltd (CSTC) , officially signed a contract with the renowned South Korean liner company CK Line for the construction of two firm and two optional 6,400 TEU container vessels.

The 6,400 TEU container vessels covered by this contract were designed by the Marine Design and Research Institute of China (MARIC). Measuring 240 meters in length and 42.8 meters in beam, the vessels have a deadweight of approximately 80,310 tonnes and a capacity of 6,406 TEUs, including 1,150 slots for refrigerated containers. They offer key advantages such as high cargo capacity, low transport cost per unit, operational flexibility, high speed, and outstanding environmental performance.

CK Line’s operations primarily focus on container shipping across China, Japan, South Korea, and Southeast Asia. Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding possesses extensive experience and an outstanding track record in the construction of feeder and mid-sized container vessels. In 2025, the shipbuilder delivered two 2,700 TEU container vessels to CK Line. This renewed collaboration not only reinforces Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding’s leading position in the international market for mid-sized container vessels but also highlights the strong competitiveness of Chinese shipbuilders in the construction of high-end, eco-friendly vessels.
Huangpu Wenchong has continuously refined its product portfolio of container vessels, establishing a lineup that spans key vessel sizes—including 1,900 TEU, 3,000 TEU, 4,300 TEU, 5,300 TEU, and 6,400 TEU models—and securing orders for batch production. Notably, the company has won orders for a total of 26 vessels in the 6,000 TEU class from leading global shipping companies across Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. These achievements have further solidified the company’s competitive edge in the international mid-sized container ship market, enhanced its overseas brand influence, and provided strong momentum for its goal of becoming a world-class shipbuilding enterprise.
