HRDD Delivers Two 3,800 DWT Electric-Propulsion Vessels to a German Client

Recently, Huarun Dadong Dockyard Co., Ltd. (HRDD) held a delivery ceremony for two 3,800 DWT VEGA electric-propulsion vessels built for a German company, during which both parties signed the delivery documents. Construction on the two vessels began in November 2024, and they are fully self-propelled.

HRDD stated that to enhance construction efficiency, the vessel adopts an innovative four-block segmented construction model. The hull is divided into four major sections: bow, midship, stern and superstructure, with integral hoisting operations completed by large gantry cranes.

Breaking industry conventions for the first time, the company pioneers the advance installation of shafting and steering systems at the block construction stage. A large number of working procedures are shifted ahead, greatly shortening dock construction time. It is reported that this construction technique is not an original technological breakthrough by HRDD alone, but also a leading process in the maritime industry.

This type of vessel is equipped with a wide range of systems, involves complex construction processes, requires extensive overlapping work, and presents significant challenges in coordinating the commissioning of various systems. HRDD implemented a refined management approach, strictly enforced safety production protocols, and systematically advanced hull assembly, dock outfitting, equipment commissioning, and various inspection and certification procedures, ensuring the smooth progress of the entire construction process. During sea trials, HRDD completed the trials in three days, shortening the originally scheduled four-day trial period.
