Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Announces Four New Orders

On April 1, Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, in partnership with China Shipbuilding Trading, formally signed a contract with the Greek shipping company Venergy Maritime Limited for the construction of 2+2 Suezmax tankers.

According to industry sources, the new vessels will have a deadweight tonnage of 158,000 tons and be equipped with desulfurization systems. The cost per vessel is approximately $82 million, with the total order valued at approximately $164 million. Delivery is expected in 2029 and 2030.

This signing marks the first partnership between Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding and the Greek shipping company Venergy Maritime Limited.

For Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding, this marks a significant milestone in expanding its global customer network; for Venergy, it represents a key step in its fleet modernization strategy. Building on this collaboration, the two parties will explore broader avenues for cooperation and work together to seize the opportunities presented by the shipping industry’s green transition and digital transformation.

Venergy Maritime Limited is a Greek shipping company established in 2021. It is part of the Vasileiadis Group (V Group), founded and led by Vyron Vasileiadis. The group’s operations primarily focus on port reception facilities, waste management, alternative fuel production, renewable energy, and technology in Greece and globally, and it has been active in the newbuild market in recent years.
