Jiangsu Hantong Ship Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. (HT) has established a new shipbuilding and repair company in Tongzhou District, Nantong City, Jiangsu Province.

According to Aiqicha, Jiangsu Changhang Shipbuilding & Repair Co., Ltd. was established on March 19, 2026. Its registered address is located in Tongzhou Bay River-Sea Intermodal Development Demonstration Zone, Jiangsu Province. The legal representative is Gao Guanghui, and the registered capital is 500 million yuan (approximately US$0.72 billion).
Jiangsu Changhang Shipbuilding & Repair Co., Ltd. is wholly owned by HT. Its business scope includes licensed projects such as ship repair and port operation, as well as general projects such as ship leasing, ship towing services, and port cargo loading and unloading activities.
With the establishment of Jiangsu Changhang Shipbuilding & Repair Co., Ltd., HT now has two subsidiaries. The other subsidiary is Jiangsu New Hantong Ship Heavy Industry Co., Ltd., which was jointly established by HT and Jiangsu Hantong Group Co., Ltd., with HT holding 80% and Jiangsu Hantong Group Co., Ltd. holding 20% of the shares respectively, and their respective investments amounting to RMB 800 million and RMB 200 million.
Established in 2003, HT is a core shipbuilding enterprise under Jiangsu Hantong Group, specializing in the manufacture of ships and floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) units.
HT covers a total area of 800,000m². The annual steel processing capacity reaches 150,000 tons. The main facilities include: three slipways with capacities of 50,000 ton and 80,000 ton, processing workshops with an area of 120,000m², painting workshops with an area of 18,000m² and outfitting quay.
HT is experienced in and focuses on building various types of vessels up to 80000 dwt and offshore products, among which handymax bulk carriers occupied more than 36%of the market share.
Bulk carriers have remained HT’s primary order type in recent years, and the company announced four bulk carrier order earlier this year. In the container ship market, HT made its debut in container ship construction in 2024 with a batch of 22,000 TEU LNG dual-fuel container ships for Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC). Currently, the design of the 22,000 TEU-class container ships is 100% complete.
In the tanker market, HT officially entered the tanker construction sector in late 2023 by securing an order for two 157,000 DWT Suezmax tankers from Greek shipping magnate George Economou. In February 2024, HT announced its first VLCC order, with the shipowner being the Swiss bulk trading firm Trafigura Group.
