Recently, the bidding results for the project to build two new 82K bulk carriers by Shanghai Leading Energy, which is controlled by China Huaneng Group, were announced: Wuhu Shipyard won the bid with a bid amount of 584 million yuan (approximately US$84 million).

According to the tender notice, the two bulk carriers will fly the Chinese national flag, be registered with the China Classification Society, and be capable of unlimited navigation. They are scheduled for delivery by August 31, 2028, and December 31, 2028, respectively.
According to records, Shanghai Leading Energy was established in September 2008 with a registered capital of 800 million yuan. It serves as the sole specialized shipping platform under China Huaneng Group. The company was jointly invested and established by China Huaneng Group and Huaneng Hainan Power Generation, with respective contributions of RMB 480 million and RMB 320 million, holding equity stakes of 60% and 40%.
