Shanxi Diesel Heavy Industry Secures Contract to Supply Generator Sets for 12 1,800 TEU Container Ships

On January 23, Shanxi Diesel Heavy Industry, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, successfully signed a contract with Mawei Shipbuilding to supply diesel generator sets for 12 1,800 TEU container ships. This marks a new phase of deepened collaboration between the two parties, demonstrating their firm commitment to jointly expanding the marine power market and achieving mutual benefits and win-win outcomes.

Chairman Huang Rutang and General Manager Zeng Jinzhu of Mawei Shipbuilding, along with Chairman Sun Zhihong and Deputy General Manager Yang Xiaoqing of Shanxi Diesel Heavy Industry, jointly attended and witnessed the signing ceremony.

The 12 1,800 TEU container ships contracted for this agreement will be uniformly equipped with Shanxi Diesel Heavy Industry’s SXD-Everllence 21/31 series generator sets. This series precisely meets the core operational requirements of container ships—long voyages and low fuel consumption—by leveraging its mature technology, compact structure, low-consumption efficiency and easy maintenance. It will effectively help shipowners enhance operational efficiency.

Mawei Shipbuilding, the largest state-owned shipbuilding enterprise in Fujian Province, is an important shipbuilding base in southern China, with a century-long history of shipbuilding expertise. Shanxi Diesel Heavy Industry, a major domestic supplier of complete sets of medium- and high-speed high-power engines, has been deeply involved in the field of marine power for over seventy years, possessing a strong technical foundation and manufacturing capabilities. The two companies have maintained a stable and positive cooperative relationship for a long time.

Shanxi Diesel Heavy Industry stated that the successful signing of this project marks another significant milestone for the company in its efforts to cultivate the global mainstream ship type market. Since the beginning of 2026, Shanxi Diesel Heavy Industry has successively undertaken multiple projects in the shipbuilding market, including a 17,000T deep-sea cable laying vessel, a 17,500DWT multi-purpose vessel, and vessels with capacities of 1,900 TEU and 1,500 TEU.
