Recently, the evaluation results of the 2025 Science and Technology Award of the Chinese Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (CSNAME) have been officially announced. The project Research and Application of Key Technologies for the Design and Construction of 20MW-Class High-Efficiency Offshore Wind Power Installation Platforms, led by CSSC Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI), has won the First-Class Award for Science and Technology Progress.

The project was led by the GSI Cargo Ship Design Team for Wind Power Installation Platform, in collaboration with China Merchants Marine Equipment Research Institute and Guangdong Shipyard International Marine Science and Technology Research Institute Co., Ltd.
Capable of operating at maximum water depths of 70 meters, the platform features unrestricted navigation capabilities. It enables integrated transportation of offshore wind turbines from port bases to construction sites, supports installation operations for offshore wind turbines up to 20MW capacity, and possesses the capability to assemble wind turbine equipment on the platform deck.
The groundbreaking achievements of this project not only solidify GSI’s technological leadership in deepwater offshore wind power installation but also drive the transformation and upgrading of related industries. Moreover, they significantly enhance the technological sophistication and market competitiveness of the energy sector, providing robust technical support for China’s dual carbon goals.
