Recently, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries and HD Hyundai Samho, shipbuilding subsidiaries of South Korea’s largest shipbuilding group, announced their development targets for 2026.

According to the plan, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries has set its annual order target for 2026 at $20.42 billion (approximately KRW 29.6 trillion). The order targets for each business sector are as follows: $14.486 billion for the shipbuilding sector, $3.259 billion for the offshore engineering and equipment sector, and $2.675 billion for the engine and machinery sector. Accordingly, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries has set its 2026 revenue target at KRW 24.4084 trillion.
In the recently concluded 2025, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries secured new ship orders totaling $12.678 billion (approximately KRW 18.4 trillion), surpassing its target of $12.577 billion (KRW 18.2 trillion). The company achieved operating revenue of approximately KRW 17.6519 trillion, marking an 11.7% increase over the projected figure of KRW 15.7959 trillion.
It is worth noting that HD Hyundai Heavy Industries’ full-year 2025 results include the single-month performance of HD Hyundai Mipo for December 2025. The two shipbuilders completed their merger on December 1, 2025.
HD Hyundai Samho, part of the HD Hyundai Group alongside HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, has set an annual order target of $5.048 billion (approximately KRW 7.3 trillion) for 2026, with projected operating revenue of KRW 8.3166 trillion.
In 2025, HD Hyundai Samho achieved cumulative new ship orders valued at $6.928 billion (approximately KRW 10 trillion) for the entire year, exceeding its target of $4.571 billion (approximately KRW 6.6 trillion) by 51.6%.
In terms of new ship orders for 2026, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries has secured its first order of the year, successfully winning contracts for four 200,000 m³ LNG carriers. The vessels are being built for Japanese shipping company NYK and Norwegian owner Ocean Yield, with a total construction value exceeding $1 billion.
