On January 6th, Chinese shipbuilder Wuhu Shipyard successfully signed a contract with Turkish company Aqmaris for the construction of 2+2 64,500 DWT bulk carriers.

At the signing ceremony, the Chairman of Turkish shipowner Aqmaris, Zhang Zhao, Chairman of Wuhu Shipyard, and Zhu Qi, General Manager of Yingxing Financial Leasing (Anhui), jointly attended and completed the signing.
This 64,500 DWT bulk carrier adopts the new-generation Dolphin-class Supramax bulk carrier design. The vessel type aligns with the shipping industry’s low-carbon and digitalization trends, optimized for the latest international environmental regulations and navigation requirements. It features distinct characteristics of safety, efficiency, environmental sustainability and intelligence.
In terms of energy efficiency and environmental protection, the vessel achieves significant reductions in fuel consumption and emissions through optimized hull design, high-efficiency propulsion systems, and energy-saving devices. Combined with main and auxiliary machinery configurations compliant with IMO Tier III standards, it meets EEDI Phase III requirements and can be adapted for high-voltage shore power and lithium-ion battery packs to enable green operations. Its structural design adheres to the latest regulations, ensuring safety and fatigue strength while delivering enhanced deadweight capacity and cargo hold volume for superior cargo adaptability.
The vessel is equipped with an integrated intelligent navigation and energy efficiency management system, delivering comprehensive cybersecurity solutions. This system enables intelligent navigation, engine room management, and energy optimization functions, significantly enhancing the vessel’s operational economy and environmental performance.
The Chairman of Aqmaris highly commended Wuhu Shipyard’s construction capabilities and product quality. He stated that this collaboration stems from full confidence in Wuhu Shipyard’s technical expertise and industry reputation, expressing strong anticipation for future cooperation on other vessel projects. He hopes this partnership will serve as an opportunity to pursue deeper and broader collaborations with Wuhu Shipyard and Yingxing Financial Leasing.
