CSSC Tianjin Shipbuilding Completes Second Major Capital Increase, Boosting Green Shipbuilding Capacity

According to the National Enterprise Credit Information Publicity System, China State Shipbuilding Corporation Tianjin Shipbuilding Co., Ltd (“CSSC (Tianjin) Shipbuilding”) has completed its name change and capital increase.

The change information section indicates that on November 10, 2025, CSSC (Tianjin) Shipbuilding was officially renamed China State Shipbuilding Corporation Tianjin Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (CSSC Tianjin Shipbuilding). The registered capital increased from RMB 4,785 million (approximately US$ 672.77 million) to RMB 5,297.39 million, representing a capital increase of RMB 507.39 million (approximately US$71.34 million).

Notably, this marks the second capital increase for CSSC Tianjin Shipbuilding this year. On March 11, 2025, its registered capital surged from RMB 500 million (approximately US$70.3 million) to RMB 4.785 billion (approximately US$672.77 million), representing a staggering 857% increase.

It is understood that CSSC Tianjin Shipbuilding was formerly known as Tianjin Xingang Shipbuilding Heavy Industry. In October 2021, Xingang Shipbuilding Heavy Industry announced the buyout of all employees’ seniority, termination of labor contracts, and suspension of operations. On January 12, 2021, China State Shipbuilding Corporation Tianjin Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. was registered, and commenced operations on November 25, 2021.

In July 2024, CSSC (Tianjin) Shipbuilding invested RMB 4.04 billion to acquire some assets of the Tianjin Xingang Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Lingang Plant. The acquired assets are all important shipbuilding resources, aiming to further optimize the layout of production capacity and effectively increase the shipbuilding capacity of CSSC (Tianjin) Shipbuilding. Specifically, they include two large dry docks (equipped with two gantry cranes), as well as a combined workshop, a section workshop, a painting workshop with four spraying and eight painting processes, and shoreline resources such as an 817-meter outfitting pier, an 858-meter ship repair pier, and a 300-meter sea outlet pier.

As a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (DSIC), CSSC (Tianjin) Shipbuilding has now developed into a leading enterprise in Tianjin’s shipbuilding industry. It serves as a key large-scale civil ship assembly and construction base under DSIC’s “One Headquarters, Three Bases” layout, and also stands as the largest single ship assembly and construction base in North China.

Currently, CSSC (Tianjin) Shipbuilding takes core vessel types such as large container ships, bulk carriers, oil tankers, and FPSOs as its “mainstay”, with special-purpose ships and clean-energy ships as its “two wings”. The company is striving to build a “mainstay-plus-two-wings” product portfolio of core built vessels featuring “high technological content and favorable competitive dynamics”. Its civil ship business accounts for 100% of its operations, with key vessel types including 16,000 TEU container ships, 300,000 DWT VLCCs, 115,000 DWT oil tankers, and 210,000 DWT bulk carriers.

CSSC (Tianjin) Shipbuilding covers an area of 3.65 million square meters and has two 300,000-tonnage dry docks equipped with four 800-tonnage gantry cranes. Its quay length is 3.9 kilometers, and its current annual shipbuilding capacity is 1 million deadweight tons. The company is undertaking a two-phase investment of approximately RMB 2 billion to upgrade its production capacity, with completion expected by the end of 2026, giving it the capacity to build eight VLCCs (2.4 million deadweight tons) annually.

In shipbuilding, in early November, CSSC (Tianjin) Shipbuilding successfully completed sea trials for its first methanol dual-fuel container ship and its inaugural 115,000 DWT product tanker. This marks a significant milestone in CSSC Tianjin’s shipbuilding capabilities for methanol dual-fuel container ships and oil tankers.

This year, CSSC (Tianjin) Shipbuilding also completed a series of important shipbuilding milestones, including the delivery of its first LNG dual-fuel container ship, the commencement of construction on its first VLCC, and the commencement of construction on its first LNG dual-fuel VLCC.

Under the business model of “DSIC undertaking business and CSSC (Tianjin) Shipbuilding undertaking subcontracting and construction”, CSSC (Tianjin) Shipbuilding currently holds nearly 40 orders in hand, mainly consisting of 16,000 TEU dual-fuel container ships and 300,000 DWT VLCCs, with delivery schedules extending to 2028. Since its establishment, the company has achieved rapid development: from 2022 to 2024, its annual output value has maintained double-digit growth, and its goal for this year is to achieve another doubling, becoming a “10-billion-yuan-class” enterprise.
