On August 12, COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Dalian) held a steel-cutting ceremony for the second 49,900 DWT product oil tanker (Hull No.N1256), constructed for Taiping Petrochemical Financial Leasing.

The vessel has an overall length of 182.9 meters, a beam of 32.2 meters, and a draft of 18.2 meters, with a range of 15,000 nautical miles, meeting the requirements for navigation in all sea areas.

Equipped with high-efficiency propellers and energy-saving ducting systems, the vessel’s Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) meets Phase III requirements, and its emissions comply with the International Maritime Organization’s Tier III nitrogen oxide emission standards.

In October 2024, COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Dalian) signed contracts with Taiping Petrochemical Financial Leasing and Sinopec Fuel Oil for the construction of two 49,900 DWT product tankers, with each vessel valued at approximately $45 million. The vessels are expected to be completed and put into service in 2027.

This project marks the first cross-border ship finance lease project in Northeast China. It further promotes the integration of industry and finance on an international scale and enhances services to the real economy. It also plays a greater role in the dual circulation of the domestic and international economies. Moreover, it holds significant importance for advancing the comprehensive revitalization of Northeast China’s old industrial base, supporting Liaoning’s revitalization efforts, and fostering Dalian’s development.
