China’s EGPN Bulk Carrier Enters Aframax Market with $140 Million Order

China’s bulk carrier owner and operator Donghai Anhe Bulk Carrier Co., Ltd. (EGPN Bulk Carrier) is expanding its footprint in the tanker sector.

According to TradeWinds, EGPN Bulk Carrier has reached an agreement withShanhaiguan Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd. (SHGSIC), a subsidiary of Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (DSIC), for the construction of two 115,000 DWT Aframax tankers. Each vessel is valued at approximately $70 million, bringing the total order value to around $140 million.

Sources indicate that the first vessel is expected to be delivered by the end of 2027, with the second vessel slated for delivery in the first half of 2028. The order has been confirmed by a representative from EGPN Bulk Carrier, though no further details regarding the shipbuilding process were disclosed.

Currently, EGPN Bulk Carrier operates two small clean product tankers built in 2021 and 2022. Additionally, eight 18,500 DWT methanol-ready chemical tankers are under construction at Wuhu Shipyard. Ordered between 2023 and 2024, all vessels are scheduled for delivery starting in 2027.

EGPN Bulk Carrier is a specialized shipping company established in December 2014 through the merger of Eastern Ocean Transportation Hong Kong Limited and Anhe Shipping Limited in Hong Kong. It operates over 30 vessels year-round, including bulk carriers, product tankers, and multi-purpose chemical tankers. Among these, nearly 20 vessels are owned vessels (including dry bulk carriers and liquid carriers). EGPN Bulk Carrier has a total fleet capacity exceeding 1 million deadweight tons, with an actual controlled capacity of approximately 3 million deadweight tons.
