On October 24, China’s Zhoushan Changhong International held the keel-laying ceremony for the third 10,300 TEU LNG dual-fuel container ship (Hull NO.CHB2039) under construction for MSC at Dock No. 1. This milestone marks the official transition of the vessel’s construction into the critical in-dock outfitting phase, laying a solid foundation for the project’s subsequent smooth progress.

It is understood that this project comprises a series of 10 vessels jointly developed by CIMC Ocean Engineering Design & Research Institute (CIMC ORIC) and Changhong International. With an overall length of nearly 300 meters, a beam of 45.6 meters, and a design speed of 20 knots, this vessel represents a new generation of technologically advanced, environmentally friendly container vessels capable of carrying 10,000 TEUs.
The vessel is designed with LNG dual-fuel main engines and generators, while meeting the cutting-edge “Ammonia Ready” and “Methanol Ready” design standards. This highlights the forward-looking nature of the design, paving the way for future carbon-neutral shipping. The vessel is classified by DNV.
