Explosion on Dredger at South Korea’s Gunsan Port Injures Two Workers

On the morning of October 21 local time, an explosion occurred on a dredger at Gunsan Port in South Korea, injuring two people. Rescuers then quickly arrived at the scene to carry out rescue operations.

The incident occurred while two workers were performing scheduled maintenance welding on the unnamed dredger, which was moored near Pier 6 in the harbor.

The report said the two injured suffered severe injuries throughout their bodies due to the explosion and needed to be urgently transported by helicopter. South Korean media said the two are still receiving treatment for burns in the hospital.

The South Korean Coast Guard has launched an investigation into the incident and confirmed that the explosion caused no visible pollution or additional damage.

Witnesses stated that at the time of the accident, two injured individuals were performing welding operations when a nearby gas cylinder suddenly exploded.
