Recently, Hiroshima Shipyard of Imabari Shipbuilding delivered the 13,900 TEU ammonia/methanol-ready container ship ONE SINCERITY to Ocean Network Express (ONE).
“ONE SINCERITY” measures 335.94 meters in length, 51.00 meters in width, and 30.10 meters in depth, with a gross tonnage of 140,233. Equipped with a 7G95ME-C10.6 main engine, it has a speed of approximately 22 knots.
Classed by Lloyd’s Register (LR) and flying the Singapore flag, the vessel can be converted to use methanol/ammonia fuel and install a carbon capture system in the future, and has already obtained approval in principle (AiP) from the classification society.
The vessel can carry up to approximately 13,932 standard containers and is equipped with up to four layers of lashing bridges on the deck, enabling it to carry large quantities of refrigerated containers in the hold and on deck, as well as various dangerous goods specified in the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code.
The vessel uses the latest analytical technology to develop an optimized ship type that pursues high efficiency based on the ship speed and draft depth during high-frequency navigation. Excellent fuel efficiency is achieved through the use of energy-saving devices, twisted rudders, and hull coatings that reduce friction with seawater. It is expected to achieve an approximately 60% reduction in carbon dioxide emissions, far exceeding the latest requirements. The use of a bow wind cover device further improves the its performance during actual navigation.
In addition, to comply with sulfur oxide (SOx) and nitrogen oxide (NOx) emission restrictions, the vessel is equipped with a hybrid exhaust gas cleaning system (EGCS) and an exhaust gas recirculation system (EGR). Other environmental measures include a ballast water treatment system and an inventory list that complies with the Ship Recycling Convention.
It is worth mentioning that ONE’s first 13,000 TEU ammonia/methanol-ready container ship, the ONE Sparkle, was named in mid-February this year. The vessel was built by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries.
