New Yangzi Shipbuilding Delivers Second 114,000DWT LR2 Oil Tanker “BELGRAVE SQUARE” to Zodiac

On August 17, New Yangzi Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group, delivered the second 114,000DWT LR2 oil tanker named “BELGRAVE SQUARE” to shipowner Zodiac, which has subsequently entered into operation.

The vessel has a total length of 248.8 meters, a beam of 44.0 meters, a depth of 21.5 meters, a structural draft of 15.0 meters, a design draft of 13.5 meters and a design speed of 14.5 knots.

The design and construction of the vessel incorporate the latest technological achievements:

  • By reducing wave-making resistance through multiple rounds of CFD iterative optimization of the hull lines, combined with a newly designed large-diameter propeller and energy-saving devices such as propeller duct and PCT (Propeller Cap Thruster), the overall efficiency of the vessel is approximately 7% higher than that of the previous generation of vessels.
  • When using conventional fuel, the energy efficiency design index (EEDI) is 5.5% lower than the baseline value, meeting the requirements of EEDI Phase 3.
  • Its structural design complies with the latest CSR-H standards. Through structural optimization, the structural weight has been significantly reduced compared to the previous generation of vessels, while offering greater deadweight and cargo capacity.
  • The vessel is equipped with a scrubber and HPSCR to meet the latest SOX and NOX emission requirements
  • The vessel improves the shipowner’s operating efficiency by optimizing the mooring arrangement and cargo oil system; improves the crew’s living comfort through vibration and noise reduction measures; and enhances energy conservation and environmental protection effects by equipping it with a medium-voltage shore power system.

Through the application of the above new technologies, the vessel boasts advantages such as green energy efficiency, large loading capacity, and high levels of intelligence. Its fuel consumption, speed, and comfort levels all meet industry-leading standards.

Construction of the vessel commenced in early July 2024, followed by dry-dock assembly in late December of the same year. It was launched in late April 2025 and successfully completed its sea trials in mid-July 2025, with all test results meeting the design standards.

It is understood that the signing and delivery ceremony for the vessel was completed on August 15. With this, together with the delivery of the sister vessel “BERKELEY SQUARE” in early July, the two 114,000 DWT LR2 oil tankers built by New Yangzi Shipbuilding for Zodiac Shipowners have been successfully completed.
