On October 20, Sanpu Marine Engineering New Energy Equipment Manufacturing and Ship Repair/Newbuilding Base project of the Bluewater Group broke ground at Gaopai Port in Dongfang City. The project targets the gap in large-scale green ship repair and high-end offshore engineering maintenance services south of Guangzhou, aiming to enable nearby support and efficient maintenance for vessels and offshore platforms operating in the South China Sea.

With a total investment of approximately 3.5 billion yuan (approximately $524 million), the project covers an area of about 500,000 square meters and includes the construction of one 300,000-ton repair dock and one 200,000-ton repair dock, with a total berth shoreline length of approximately 2.06 kilometers.
With green ship repair as its core business, the base will have an annual ship repair capacity exceeding 200 vessels upon completion. It will also cover high-end offshore oil and gas, deep-sea aquaculture, and wind energy equipment manufacturing, forming a closed-loop industrial ecosystem characterized by “stable ship repair volume and value-added offshore engineering.” This aligns with the strategy to build China into a maritime power and supports the development of the Hainan Free Trade Port.
Bluewater Group is a large-scale conglomerate integrating intelligent fishery equipment, high-end oil and gas equipment, and shipbuilding and repair; it has established six major manufacturing bases across Jiangsu, Guangdong, and Guangxi.
