CSSC Chengxi Shipyard signs construction and classification contract with DNV for 62,000 DWT heavy-lift vessel

On August 7, CSSC Chengxi Shipyard, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), signed a contract with DNV for the construction and classification of a 62,000 DWT heavy-lift multi-purpose vessel, marking the official launch of the project.

Norbert Kray, Senior Vice President of DNV Group and President of Greater China, Yan Xiaolin, General Manager of China North Region, Zhou Jianxiang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and General Manager of CSSC Chengxi Shipyard, Ren Qiang, Chief Engineer, Li Hao, Deputy General Manager, as well as other relevant leaders attended the signing ceremony.

The 62,000 DWT heavy-lift multi-purpose vessel can flexibly load heavy equipment and containers of various sizes. Its technical performance reaches the international leading level: the energy efficiency index meets the third phase (EEDI Phase 3) standard, nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions meet Tier Ⅲ requirements, and sulfur oxide (SOx) emissions meet the latest international convention control indicators.

This cooperation is another collaboration between CSSC Chengxi Shipyard and DNV in the field of heavy-lift vessels. The two parties will continue to deepen strategic cooperation, focus on construction quality and process innovation, and work together in design review, on-site inspection and full life cycle technical services to deliver safe, reliable, green and environmentally friendly high-end heavy-lift multi-purpose vessels to customers.
