On July 9, Zhoushan Changhong International Shipyard Co. LTD (Changhong International) kicked off construction on the third 50,000 DWT MR tanker built for Greek shipowner HORIZON TANKER.
MR takers account for the highest proportion of the tanker fleet, and their supply and demand situation is crucial to the overall operation of the tanker market, with broad market prospects.
This vessel is the eighth in the MR tankers series being constructed by Changhong International, with an overall length of approximately 182.95 meters, a beam of 32.2 meters and a draft of 19.1 meters. It is classified by the Lloyd’s Register (LR).
The vessel is equipped with energy-saving devices and adopts the latest energy-saving technologies. This series of vessels is designed with a new energy-saving device of PBCF (Propeller Boss Cap Fins) + energy-saving duct specially designed by SDARI for this type of MR oil-chemical tanker, which reduces the energy consumption of the main engine, improves the propulsion efficiency and further reduces the fuel consumption while meeting the requirements of the latest effective rules and regulations and the third phase (phase III) requirements of EEDI.
In addition, the vessel is equipped with a new wash water system, allowing shipowners to more conveniently handle wash water in restricted areas. The cargo oil system adopts a flexible and efficient loading design that can load seven types of cargo simultaneously. The design better meets market demand and enhances market competitiveness.
