SHGSIC Achieves 600-Ton Lifting Breakthrough with New Combined Beam Tooling for Shipbuilding Efficiency

On June 21, the 600-ton combined lifting beam tooling of Shanhaiguan Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd. (SHGSIC) under CSSC (China State Shipbuilding Corporation) was officially put into use. In the afternoon of the same day, SHGSIC successfully completed the hoisting operation of the superstructure block for the P110K-55 vessel, marking a major technical breakthrough in the ship block construction field of the company and providing key equipment support for the high-efficiency assembly of large blocks in the future.

The complete blocks weighing over 600 tons were built on a 115,000-ton oil tanker and an 84,500-ton multi-purpose vessel. The lifting capacity and structural dimensions did not meet the conditions for direct lifting by two 600-ton cranes, which constrained the improvement of production efficiency.

In response to this issue, the Production Management Department of SHGSIC meticulously planned each stage of the process, including technical feasibility studies, selection of crane beam parameters, and organization of crane beam load tests. Through the collaborative efforts of the design, production departments, and manufacturing companies, the crane beam was assembled in-house and underwent load testing, enabling the timely delivery of the crane beam fixture and its successful acceptance on the first attempt. On the day of acceptance, the P110K-55’s main block was successfully lifted.

The application of this tooling further improves the integrity of the upper-building assembly, saves 2 to 4 assembly positions, and while alleviating the pressure on site resources, it can also shorten the construction period in the superstructure in-dock installation, providing a strong guarantee for continuously improving shipbuilding efficiency.
