Japan’s Imabari Shipbuilding delivers 2080 TEU container ship “MAERSK NAMSOS”

Recently, Japan’s Imabari Shipbuilding officially delivered the 2080 TEU container ship “MAERSK NAMSOS”.

“MAERSK NAMSOS” is 171.93m in length, 32.20m in breadth and 16.80m in depth with a gross tonnage of 25,723. It can carry a maximum of approximately 2,086 TEUs. The deck is equipped with up to two tiers of lashing bridges, allowing for the loading of a large number of refrigerated containers in the holds and on the deck, as well as a wide range of dangerous goods as defined in the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code. The deck area is equipped with three deck cranes, enabling cargo loading and unloading even in ports lacking loading and unloading equipment.

To meet Tier III NOx regulations and prevent air pollution, the ship’s main engines are equipped with Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) systems; power generation engines are equipped with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems; and it is equipped with a ballast water treatment system and an inventory list compliant with the Ship Recycling Convention. The ship’s CO2 emissions also comply with the latest EEDI requirements.

In addition, the ship’s propulsion performance and environmental performance have also been improved by installing energy-saving attachments near the propeller and using a hull coating that reduces friction with seawater.
