Diana Shipping fixes out ultramax to Bulk Trading

Greek bulk carrier owner Diana Shipping has entered into a time charter with Bulk Trading for an ultramax dry bulk carrier.

Under the contract, Bulk Trading will charter the Bulk Trading, a 2017-built bulk carrier of 60,456 tons deadweight, at a daily rate of US$16,500, less a 5% commission paid to a third party, for a minimum period of August 1, 2025, and a maximum period of September 30, 2025. The charter period is expected to begin on May 8, 2024. The bulk carrier is expected to generate gross revenues of approximately $7.33 million over the minimum term of the time charter contract.

The bulk carrier is currently chartered by ASL Bulk Marine at a daily rate of $13,250.

Following the recently announced sale of the Houston, Diana Shipping’s fleet would consist of 38 dry bulk carriers, including four Newcastle, eight Capesize, five Post-Panamax, six Kamsarmax, six Panamax and nine Supra-Panamax. The company also expects to take delivery of two methanol dual-fuel powered newbuild kamsarmax dry bulk carriers in the second half of 2027 and the first half of 2028, respectively.

Currently, the fleet, including the Houston, has a total deadweight of approximately 4.4 million deadweight tons and a weighted average age of 10.73 years.
