Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering Co., Ltd. (CIMC SOE) has reached two major milestones: construction has commenced on the second 20,000 cbm LNG bunkering vessel in the series for GSX ENERGY LIMITED, and the second vessel of the same type for Somtralux SA has been moved onto the building berth.
CIMC SOE Successfully Kicks Off Construction of the Second 20,000 cbm LNG Bunkering Vessel for GSX ENERGY
On August 10, a steel-cutting ceremony was held for the 20,000 cbm LNG bunkering vessel (Hull No. S1158) built by CIMC SOE for GSX ENERGY LIMITED (GSX ENERGY).
This series of vessels features an overall length of 159 meters, a beam of 25 meters, and a design speed of 13 knots. They are equipped with a Wärtsilä dual-fuel main engine and a 1,300 kW shaft generator to meet power demands during normal operation, with the option to install a high-voltage shore power system later. Additionally, the vessels innovatively utilize a dual-fuel boiler with a Gas Combustion Unit (GCU) function; designed to accommodate ice-class navigation requirements, the system allows boil-off gas to be used for cabin heating while the vessel is at berth, thereby maximizing LNG fuel utilization efficiency.
GSX ENERGY has currently ordered four vessels of the same type from CIMC SOE; the successful commencement of construction on vessel S1158 marks the entry of this series project into the phase of batch production.

On August 11, CIMC SOE achieved a key construction milestone with the keel laying of the second 20,000 cbm LNG bunkering vessel (hull No. S1130) for Somtralux SA.
This vessel is the second in a series of 20,000 cbm LNG bunkering vessels being built by CIMC SOE for Somtralux SA. The first vessel in the series was successfully launched in July 2026, and the timely placement of the second vessel laid keel marks the entry of this project into a new phase of efficient construction.
To date, CIMC SOE has secured a total order book of eleven 20,000 cbm LNG bunkering vessels.
