CCS Issued a Certificate of Approval for the Primary and Secondary Barriers Tightness Testing of Membrane LNG Enclosure System

Recently, China Classification Society (CCS) Guangzhou Branch has successfully completed the supplier certification for Zhong Xing Sea-land Engineering Co., Ltd. for conducting primary and secondary barriers tightness testing of membrane enclosure system for gas tankers in operation.

The tightness testing technology is widely applied in the liquid cargo tanks of membrane LNG (liquefied natural gas) tankers, membrane liquid cargo tanks of LNG fuel refueling ships, membrane LNG land storage tanks, membrane LNG fuel tanks of large green energy ships (such as large container ships, oil tankers, etc.), etc.

The entire testing process is monitored and analyzed in a real-time manner through intelligent digitization, which makes on-site testing more efficient and safe, providing safety and quality assurance for the production and transportation of green energy such as LNG.

In recent years, CCS has been concerned about new quality testing technologies represented by green and intelligence, actively cooperated with relevant domestic departments and enterprises, and continuously launched application guidelines for new technology maintenance and testing services. In October 2023, CCS issued relevant certification requirements to the shipping industry for “suppliers of primary and secondary barriers tightness testing for membrane enclosure system of gas tankers in operation”.

In the process of certification to Zhong Xing Sea-land Engineering Co., Ltd., Guangzhou Branch assigned experienced auditors to make multiple exchanges and coordination with the company’s technical personnel in terms of testing technology, personnel qualification, testing equipment, design authorization, practical verification tests, etc. Finally, the audit was successfully completed.
