On October 9, 2026, Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding (a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation) joint with China Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd. (CSTC) signed the Protocol of Delivery and Acceptance with CMB.TECH for the world’s first 210,000DWT Ammonia Dual Fuel Bulk Carrier—Mineral Europa , marking its official delivery.

As the first ammonia-powered vessel in the 210,000DWT class worldwide, the ship represents a major breakthrough in the green and low-carbon transition of the dry bulk shipping industry.
The Protocol of Delivery and Acceptance was jointly signed by Thomas De Graef, Technical Manager of CMB.TECH; Zhou Yinghui, Senior Project Manager of Europe Department of CSTC; and Hao Dawei, Deputy Director of the Business Department of Beihai Shipbuilding.

Ammonia, as a zero-carbon fuel, is widely recognized by the industry as one of the most promising pathways toward the deep decarbonization of large oceangoing vessels. The successful delivery not only provides a practical “Chinese solution” for the decarbonization of the global bulk carrier fleet, but also demonstrates the technical strength and first-mover advantage of China’s shipbuilding industry in the field of green marine propulsion.
Taking the delivery of the lead vessel as a new starting point, Beihai Shipbuilding will continue to deepen its presence in the green and smart ship market, contributing greater efforts to the timely achievement of net-zero target and to China’s “dual carbon” goals.
