On September 22, Qidong Xiangyu Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering successfully kicked off construction of two 82,000 DWT bulk carriers for Shanghai Changjiang Shipping Corporation.
The two 82,000 DWT dry bulk carriers have a total length of 229 meters, a beam of 32.26 meters, a designed draft of 12.2 meters, and a speed of approximately 14 knots. Featuring a bow designed to reduce wave height and increase drag, and a stern optimized for wind and wave conditions, the vessels maximize deadweight while maintaining their speed.
Leveraging CSR-H’s latest structural specifications to achieve a lightweight design, combined with a low-drag superstructure, they significantly reduce fuel consumption and enhance economic efficiency throughout their entire lifecycle. Nitrogen oxide emissions meet Tier III standards, and sulfur oxide emissions comply with the latest regulations, enabling comprehensive green and compliant operations.
Once completed, this type of vessel will be officially put into service on domestic coastal shipping routes. With its comprehensive performance advantages—including high deadweight, low energy consumption, and high environmental sustainability—it will effectively optimize the company’s fleet structure and vessel configuration, further strengthen its presence in the coastal shipping market, and steadily improve overall operational efficiency.
