On September 22, Zhoushan Changhong International held a steel-cutting ceremony in its smart workshop, marking the start of construction on the fourth vessel (hull number: CHB2054) in the 21,700 TEU LNG dual-fuel container ship project being built for Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC).
This vessel type features a next-generation LNG dual-fuel propulsion system and is designed with provisions for ammonia fuel, significantly reducing energy consumption and emissions while increasing cargo capacity. Jointly developed and designed by Zhoushan Changhong International and CIMC Offshore Research Institute (CIMC ORIC), this series of vessels has a total length of 366 meters, a draft of 33.2 meters, a beam of 61.3 meters, and a design speed of 19 knots. They are the largest container ships currently under construction in Zhejiang and are classified by DNV.
